We are beginning the rebuilding process, working with our insurance company.
There is a lot that has to occur before we can actually begin to rebuild. Insurance will pay to restore the damage to the equivalent condition when the event occurred, usually with new replacements. Since building codes have changed since the basement was done, the facility will have to be brought up to current building codes. We are working with our general contractor, ServPro, to identify all of the equipment, facilities, and content that will have to be replaced. They are getting multiple quotes for this work, which will have to be approved by the insurance company to establish an overall budget for the rebuild. After the budget is approved by the insurance company, we will begin contracting with the companies to do the work. Once they have a contract, equipment will have to be ordered. Some of the major components may have long lead times. Architectural drawings are being prepared, which will then be reviewed by the city for compliance with current building codes. Once this is completed, building permits can be issued to start the work. We will continue to keep you updated as updates become available! See the photos below for a little update on what the basement looks like today! Yesterday morning we held worship at Willis Music as our building continues to be cleaned up. It was a great morning! We had a great turnout! We're so grateful that Willis allowed us to use their facility for worship. Watch the service here!
As of now, we don't know where next Sunday's service (August 7) will be. We hope our building will be usable by then, but we may end up at Willis again next Sunday as well. We will have a definite decision by this Wednesday (8/3), so be on the lookout! No significant updates today. The ServPro team continues to clean out every square inch the basement. We are still, unfortunately, unable to use our building for worship this Sunday. However, we will be having IN-PERSON worship at Willis Music (130 W Tiverton Way Lexington, KY 40503)! There will be no official Sunday School, but some teachers may be planning on meeting to have Sunday School at a restaurant, home, or some other space. Check with your Sunday School teacher to see if anything is planned. Worship at Willis will start, as always, at 10:45am! We are hoping to get back in our building soon, but for now we are so grateful to Willis Music for offering us a space to worship together!
This morning was the first Sunday morning since the flood. Unfortunately, our building is still unable to be used for in-person worship, so we had to go virtual. We hooked up essential power to a generator so we would be able to livestream the service, but we couldn't hook the lights up. The staff showed up and made it work in the dark! Luckily, ServPro let us borrow one of their lights so we would at least have a little bit! The cleanup at Rosemont is well underway! The ServPro team has been working hard to clean out the debris left behind from the flood. Unfortunately, almost everything in the basement can be considered debris or trash at this point. As you can see from the photos below, the walls are almost all down to the studs and the laminate flooring in the youth room and fellowship hall have been taken up. ServPro will continue to clean out the basement for several more days. Rosemont family, at approximately 4:30 this morning a water main broke in front of the church. As a result, the basement has been significantly flooded and power to the church has been shut off. All services and activities at the church are cancelled until further notice. Please pray that the damage will be as minimal as possible. We will provide updates as they become available. |
